What It Does

1.    Superior barrier to lateral damp penetration
Penetrating damp afflicts all mineral-based building materials. In the worst cases driving rain will soak through soft mortar joints, cracks in masonry or porous stone, to cause damage to plasterwork, wallpaper, paint and timber.  If the moisture never actually gets all the way through to the internal decorative surfaces, penetrating damp is slowly degrading the exterior of the structure. Our treatment halts the march of penetrating damp before it leads to more serious problems.

2.     Breathable
Our product allows moisture to evaporate freely from whatever material it is applied to. Mimicking mountain clothing technology, it forms a waterproof barrier that water droplets cannot penetrate but which permits moisture to evaporate from, as water vapour.

3.    Invisible barrier
It cures to leave no visible trace of its presence, so the appearance of the building is not compromised. It doesn’t darken the surface or leave any kind of evident “finish”.

4.    Frost protection
Untreated brick and stone masonry can easily be damaged by cold temperatures.  As water freezes, it
expands, sparking micro-spalling of the weather facing surface. Over time this delamination of tiny particles starts a cycle of deterioration, wherein more water molecules are absorbed and therefore bigger particles are dislodged in the freeze/thaw cycle. Aquashield Solutions can limit the quantity of water being absorbed into the surface and in turn reduces the impact of frost damage.

5.    Condensation control
Lateral penetrating damp can show up anywhere there is a weakness in the building’s outer skin which doesn’t actually need to migrate all the way through to cause problems. A wet wall is a cold wall.  In many cases “cold spots” caused by partial saturation of the wall chill that area down significantly. This often exhibits as damp patches on internal plaster or paint finishes, because the warm moist indoor air condenses on the coldest part of the wall. Dry out that external wall with our treatment to stop cold-spot condensation.

6.    Reduction of evaporative heat loss
Our treatment will help to dry out absorbent external walls. A dry wall is a warm wall (relatively) that eliminates the energy transfer that occurs as moisture changes from liquid to gas (water vapour). It is this energy transfer by evaporation that removes heat from the wall. Use Aquashield Solutions to stop water from being absorbed in the first place.
